چکیده
In this paper, we designed and experimentally studied several systems of standard coaxial cables with different impedances which mimic the operation so called photonic structures like coupled crystal microcavities. Using elementary cells half-meter long got resonances around 100MHz, a range frequencies that can be easily teaching laboratory apparatus. Resonant mode frequency splitting has been obtained in case double triple cavities. A good agreement between experimental results transfer matrix model observed. The aim here is to demonstrate cable system very cheap way an easy implement structure explain undergraduate students complex phenomena usually occur optical domain.

We demonstrate the use of silicon photonic crystal based microcavity structures to perform light modulation at potentially giga-Hertz speeds through the use of optically induced plasma dispersion. The cavity configurations considered have the potential to operate at low pump power when the Q of the cavity involved is maximized.

We demonstrate the nonresonant magnetic interaction at optical frequencies between a photonic crystal microcavity and a metallized near-field microscopy probe. This interaction can be used to map and control the magnetic component of the microcavity modes. The metal coated tip acts as a microscopic conductive ring, which induces a magnetic response opposite to the inducing magnetic field. The r...

متن کاملOptical fiber coupling to planar photonic crystal microcavities
Recently it has been demonstrated that resonant microcavities formed in planar photonic crystals (PC) are capable of not only confining light to ultra-small optical mode volumes[1], but can also be made of high enough quality to enable photon cavity lifetimes capable of, for instance, reaching strong-coupling with atomic Cs[2] or semiconductor quantum dots[1, 3, 4]. In many of the proposed appl...
